This 50-hour course is based on the National EMS Education Standards and endorsed by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The ECSI EMR curriculum concisely covers every competency required of students embarking on this vital EMS role. The intended audicence includes first responders with limited medical training, such as law enforcement personnel, fire fighters, athletic trainers, students, and laypersons for the medical emergencies they may one day face in the field.
At SMR, we incorporate the AAOS curriculum into our EMR course. Students may opt for ECSI certification, with or without State of LA licensure. Those who successfully complete state licensure are eligible to sit for the National Registry certification exam.
The ECSI First Aid, CPR, and AED standard course is designed for entry-level emerggency first response. This updated course uses content that meets or exceeds the scientific recommendations developed by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and is consistent with the CPR and ECC Guidelines as established by the American Heart Association and other resuscitation councils around the world.
There is an emphasis on life-threatening conditions and focus on critical life-saving skills. Decision tables provide a concise summary of what signs to look for and what treatment steps to take during an emergency. The 8th Edition expands on current information relative to CPR, AED, injuries, and illnesses. Current trends in hemorrhage control, opioid overdose response, and compression-only CPR are but a few of the updated objectives covered in this 4-6 hr course.
