Tactical Emergency Casualty Care is the flagship course of SMR. Day 1 includes lectures and skills labs to prepare the student for live patient simulation exercises on day 2. Our August 2025 course was sponsored by Caddo Fire District #3 in Greenwood, LA. This event was supported by impactful content experts such as Dr. Shane Barton, medical director for the Louisiana State Police training academy, for bringing knowledge, professionalism, and real-world insignt into the classroom.
What a phenomenal educational event with the members of Caddo Fire District #3! Their commitment to advancing lifesaving skills and their passion for learning truly sets them apart. CFD#3 EMTs and paramedics demonstrated dedication and perseverance which not only enhanced their expertise but also contributed immensely to the success of the class. Maintaining and improving life-saving techniques is a journey that requires resilience and the spirit of a lifelong learner. We eagerly look forward to welcoming these prehospital professionas back to future educational opportunities.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to CFD #3 for graciously hosting the Aug 2025 NAEMT TECC course. Their dedication to fostering a culture of preparedness is truly commendable. Our TECC course offers a patient simulation experience that incorporates TECC principles into RTF operations with local law enforcement. Rescue Task Force (RTF) operations are integrated efforts by law enforcement and EMS/fire to provide immediate emergency medical care and evacuation in dangerous environments, such as active shooter incidents.
EMS & Law Enforcement come together to collaborate in a 2-day, intense training session. During an active violent event, LE & EMS have a symbiotic relationship with a common goal: STOP THE KILLING AND STOP THE DYING. It is the SMR mission to train these professionals to meet that goal. Come train with us and give our instructors the opportunity to help fine-tune your craft. Learn how to give someone a second chance on their worst day.
Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Day 2 - Classroom Airway & Respiration Lab. Students learn airway management techniqes that are fundamental in managing trauma patients in the tactical environment. Students become proficient in NPA placement, supraglottic airway insertion, and tension pneumothorax management.
Tactical Emergency Casualty Care simulation exercises are immersive and interactive training tools that replicate real-life scenarios to enhance the skills and knowledge of first responders in managing casualties in high-threat environments. These exercises allow for the practice of critical decision-making and operational skills in a controlled setting, ensuring that first responders are prepared for real-world situations. SMR enploys a hybrid program that gives law enforcement officers and medics the opportunity to perform Rescue Task Force operations in realistic active violent events. This synergistic approach embodies the goals of TEMS: STOP THE KILLING & SAVE THE DYING.
